About Us
Rebecca Amstutz Whitestone has long been interested in women's and reproductive healthcare. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in Pre-Medical Sciences and International and Community Development with the original career goal of becoming an OB/GYN in a developing country. However, her own physical and mental health challenges (including hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) redirected her from medical school and reoriented her towards serving folks within the U.S. It also gave her a wide knowledge and experience base in holistic health as she's used a variety of dietary, supplement, therapeutic, and stress management techniques to improve her own health. She's worked primarily in nonprofit and childcare settings but was still drawn to families welcoming babies and so she trained as a doula in 2016 and as a lactation counselor in 2020. In 2021 Rebecca and her husband welcomed their son with a difficult birth that led into a difficult breastfeeding experience, but Rebecca is grateful for this experience not just because of her son's emergence but also because it better enables her to offer support to birthing and breastfeeding/pumping clients who may be experiencing things not going according to plan. Rebecca then worked at WIC as a peer breastfeeding counselor, became a state-certified community doula in 2023, and then sat for and passed her IBCLC exam in 2024.

What our clients have to say
"Rebecca was amazing when I had my daughter! She was very attentive to mine and my husbands needs during the whole process of labor and supported our wishes for the birth experience. We felt very comfortable and reassured having her there during the birth of our daughter!"
"Rebecca provided crucial postpartum support to me after the birth of my daughter. I ended up having a hard time with breastfeeding and had a difficult postpartum recovery, and Rebecca was a constant source of affirmation, guidance, and practical, hands-on support. She is a big part of why I achieved my goal of sticking with breastfeeding for one year and she is the reason why I finally learned how to breastfeed in multiple positions, including laying down (lifesaver!). Her passion for women's health shines through in every session and I was extremely grateful every time this caring professional visited my home. I highly recommend Rebecca!!"
"Rebecca is an excellent doula! She was attentive and active during my entire 24 hour labor. She completely respected and upheld all my wishes and requests. I felt safe having her there as a support and advocate. I 100% recommend her to anyone looking for a doula."
"Rebecca was very thorough, asking questions prior to putting together the wellness coaching document. The suggestions are well thought out and organized, and can easily form the platform of a new wellness routine. : ) Would gladly work with again in the future. Highly recommended!"

Fo in-person doula clients we are currently working on being able to accept all forms of Virginia Medicaid. Feel free to ask us about the status of our ability to accept your MCO. We are not able to accept other insurances at this time, but hopefully in the near future! If you need us to create a superbill or some other documentation for you to submit to your insurance or health sharing group, feel free to ask!
Do you offer a sliding scale, payment plan, or trades?
Yes! We are committed to making our services affordable and available. Please contact us to see what we can work out!
Do support only certain types of births, certain types of families, or certain types of feeding journeys?
We will provide doula services at births at birth centers, home, or hospital; medicated or unmedicated; high or low risk, etc! And we believe that #fedisbest, so a well as support families who are fully breastfeeding or exclusively pumping we are glad to support families who are combo feeding/supplementing for whatever reason! We're glad also to support many different kinds of families with many different backgrounds and beliefs.
Are you faith-based?
Rebecca is a follower of Jesus, and is glad to draw from her faith in her services if clients desire this. However we are glad to serve clients of different faiths or no faith as well, and will always be respectful of clients wishes.
Is your name Rebecca Amstutz, or Rebecca Whitestone?
Legally, Rebecca's name is still Rebecca Amstutz, so her certifications are under that name. Whitestone is the family name that she and her husband unofficially adopted (see Revelation 2:17).
